10th Annual Lily Dale Pet Remembrance Celebration
Time & Location
About the Event
Join us for a short memorial service to honour our pets that have crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. We will also pay tribute to the pets that rest in the Lily Dale Pet Cemetery. We will celebrate their life with music, prayer, and memories. Service presided over by Rev. Joanne Copley-Nigro.
The Lily Dale Pet Cemetery was created on February 13, 1900 when a team of horses fell through the ice on Cassadaga Lake during "Ice Harvesting". The legend has been passed down that these horses were taken from the icy waters and transported up South St. to the Leolyn Woods where they may have been buried. Topsy was a worker horse and beloved pet of Lily Dale along with a horse known as "Brown horse". They both have been honoured over the years for their service and love at their resting place as well as the many cherished pets of the residents of Lily Dale where their memory and spirit live on.
