About the Event

This workshop places an emphasis on the healing powers of creative writing. Includes discussion as well as writing exercises designed to inspire and promote self-healing through creative expression.

Bio: Dr. Gerard Collins is the award-winning author of Finton Moon, and Moonlight Sketches. He has been a university lecturer for over two decades, with a Ph.D. in American Gothic literature. An experienced leader of writing retreats and workshops in Canada, the United States, and Europe, Gerard has offered workshops at Lily Dale, NY, been a guest reader at the Newcastle Centre for the Literary Arts in the UK, and was invited to be a featured author at the Louisiana Book Festival. Recently, he was asked to host an exclusive writing retreat at Kingsbrae International Residence for the Arts in New Brunswick, Canada.

Gerard is a New Brunswick-based writer, originally from Newfoundland, whose first novel, Finton Moon, was nominated for the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award and The Sunburst Award for Excellence in Canadian Literature of the Fantastic while his short story collection, Moonlight Sketches, won the Newfoundland Book Award. In 2019, he launched a multi-media art exhibition called The Book that Wrote Itself. Gerard’s new novel, The Hush Sisters, releases in Fall 2020.
