Spiritual Grief Work with John and Marie Pettingill

Session Description: There are many gateways to grief: the loss of loved ones, changes in our life’s assumptions, and changes in our expectations.  After a major loss we may feel that we can never be whole again. The pain may not grow smaller, but we can grow spiritually larger.  Learn how grief-work opens us to guidance from spirit, compassion to others, and a greater connection to life.   This workshop covers the following aspects of grief: its language, its dynamics, how other cultures practice grief-work, how to prepare for transition, burial and mourning rites, memorializing those we have lost, and communing with the deceased.   We will also cover methods of self-care and how to show up for others. Come prepared to participate in grief rituals, story-telling, and guided meditations.

Presenter Bio: Marie Dagit Pettingill is a leadership coach.  John Dagit Pettingill works for the Minnesota Historical Society.  Both John and Marie teach classes in spiritual growth such as divine feminine and masculine spirituality, interpretation of sacred texts, and sacred landscapes.  Curriculum outlines and slides are available upon request.
