Day Three: Auragraphs with Wax

Art materials will be provided for in person workshop, if you attend on Zoom please prepare crayons, poster board or finger painting paper, and an iron (small irons can be purchased at Joann's Fabric)

Auragrahs can also be created with encaustic wax. The technique of encaustic wax dates back to ancient Greece and Egypt, around 100-300 AD.  Originally, artists heated beeswax colored with pigments and applied the solution to wood or canvas.

Today, from beeswax to crayons, people use a variety of methods to create encaustic wax images. In the class we will create encaustic wax images with messages, experiment with wax auragraphs, and design cards that can be used in readings. The colors and patterns that appear in the wax are both beautiful and unique.

You will learn:

• The technique of using wax to paint

• Different applications of wax art

• Interpreting colors and lines

• Reading abstract shapes

• Finding messages in the art

• Using wax art in readings

• Wax art and physical mediumship

No artistic talent is required, just a willingness to experiment with colors and shapes. Art materials will be provided in person.  Online you will need crayons, poster board or finger painting paper, and an iron (small irons can be purchased at Joann's Fabric).
